Dr. Archana Tomar

Assistant Professor, SLSE

Biography

She was an Assistant Professor in M.S. University of Baroda for 10 years before she joined Navrachana College of Education in 2004 (A part of Navrachana University since 2011). An embodiment of experience, she is an integral part of the academic team at Navrachana.

Education

Dr. Archana completed her CIEDTT (Cambridge International Examination Diploma for Teachers and Trainers) in 2007. She also holds a PhD from The Maharaja Sayaji Rao University of Baroda. Her PhD thesis is titled “An Intervention to Improve the Quality of Instruction in Environment Science for Primary Level School Children”. As esteemed teacher, she has been teaching for over two decades.

Publications

  • Dr. Tomar is external examiner for MS University’s courses for B.Ed., M.Ed.,PDEM Post graduate diploma in educational management, M.Ed. M. (Master of Educational Management”)
  • Dr. Tomar is an accomplished teacher, researcher and an ardent humanitarian. She has worked as a researcher on various projects at National and International level. Research Projects at International level were with CCEAM (Commonwealth Council of Education Administration and Management). Six different modules were developed to prepare head teachers. Dr. Tomar was part of the sixth module school effectiveness. At National level, she has participated in a project on ICT integration in Education, various projects at CASE (Centre of Advanced Study in Education). She has also worked on publication of seminar monographs, conducted number of seminars and conferences both of CASE and Navrachana College of Education; conducted number of workshops for students and teachers from various schools on diverse issues relevant to students and teachers. She has written nine modules for Gujarat Police Academy.
  • Dr. Tomar has guided Master’s level and PhD level research. She has guided number of action researches at B.Ed. level for Science Method students.
  • She has been actively involved in designing new programs and courses at the University level. She has been member of Curriculum Development Team for B.Ed., M.Ed., PhD Coursework, ECCE, Social Psychology (BBA); Engineering(Sociology). Dr. Tomar has designed and developed the program and courses for Master of Social Work (MSW).

Dr. Tomar has twice received the “Students’ Choice Best Teacher Award”. ‘Nothing certifies a teacher but her students and their appreciation’.
Dr. Tomar has three books to her credit and has contributed ten chapters in various books. She has published articles in peer reviewed journals. She has published articles in various journals and seminar and conference proceedings. She has presented seminar papers in various seminars and conferences.
